Maybe not so dumb after all

Although there are few decisions in the past years that NBC would be praised for, this was actually some very smart programming.

Less than expected

Bob Garfield wrote his analysis and critiques of the Super Bowl ads. Personally, I was a little disappointed all around. There were some very funny spots, but in general the quality of all ads this year weren't what the public has come to expect. I understand the economic times, but if you are going to pay $3 million for a 30-second spot, you better make it count. My top three: Doritos (the one with the crystal ball), Coke Zero (great way to pay respects to an unforgettable commercial), and Hulu (it's true, TV really does rot your brain. AND that's the purpose). Watch them all, and tell me what you think.

Talk about kicking a man while he's down...

It's one thing to play your hardest and do the best you can. It's quite another to completely spank an opponent and have no remorse over doing so. But it doesn't stop there: the story doesn't focus on this detail (and it shouldn't), but if you read towards the bottom of the article it mentions that this school "specializes in teaching students struggling with 'learning differences.'" When you take that into account, it's just downright cruel.

Do you want the good news first, or the bad news?

It's that wonderful time of year again when the Girls Scouts are out full-force, pushing their boxes of delicious cookies. Not only are they wonderful, it's for a good cause. How can you not buy at least a couple boxes? Well, the bad news is that the economy is affecting even the most delectable of treats. Read the full story, and then feel free to let out your true feelings (whether it be of anger, or even relief). And I promise I won't judge, I'm just excited to get some Samoas.

The Super Audience

Well, if you're like most Americans, your favorite NFL team isn't going to the Superbowl. But you'll probably watch anyway for tradition, one last chance to watch football before the 7 month hiatus, and most importantly - the commercials. I'm curious as to how it will go this year, and here's one analysis with a few musings from someone who has more experience than I do.
